Update on Wearing Face Coverings

22 August 2020

On our return to live Sunday Worship, Maze Presbyterian Church strongly recommended that everyone attending wore a face covering. Updated guidance has this week been issued by the Presbyterian Church in Ireland, which states, “the Presbyterian Church in Ireland joins with Christian church leaders all over this island in formally recommending and encouraging the use of face coverings at all services of worship, along with the ongoing maintenance of 2 metre physical distancing”. As a Church, we will be adopting this updated guidance with immediate effect.

The guidance goes on to note, “We understand that some people are exempted from the wearing of face coverings”, as outlined at https://www.nidirect.gov.uk/articles/coronavirus-covid-19-face-coverings. This could include, for example, children under the age of 13 or those who require the use of lip reading to communicate, so please continue to be considerate of others and their specific circumstances.

As a Church, we aim to provide as safe an environment as possible to facilitate face to face corporate worship. However, we understand that everyone’s circumstances are different, and some may still feel it is safer for them to continue to watch the service online.
